Online Piano Lessons - Drawbacks

[play piano] [play piano]

Undoubtedly online piano lessons have their own significant advantages over the offline counterparts. But as every coin has two sides, so does the online piano lessons. The online piano classes are less expensive and save time when compared to the offline piano lessons. There are flexible time schedules and ‘n' number of repetitions can be made in the online piano lessons. If you are looking for piano classes for kids, then they would be more interested in the online piano lessons rather than the one-to-one offline piano lessons as the online piano lessons have several fun ways to make the kids learn their piano skills. There is a collection of several music game software employed to attract the kids and make sure they don't miss their online piano lessons. Most of the cases, trial or sample piano lessons are offered free of cost before you decide to buy the complete online piano lessons. Apart from all these benefits, online piano lessons do have some unavoidable flip sides. Some of the disadvantages of learning via online piano lessons are analyzed here.

- The most important and serious drawback of choosing online piano lessons is, you can never know if the advice and manner in which certain websites handle the online piano lessons are right on your own. There are so many contradicting facts and practices of the same piano lesson among these websites and causes ambiguity.

- A one-to-one piano lesson with a teacher is always the best if you are wishing to get your basics about playing piano in the rightful manner, in spite of their little expensive nature. The intake of knowledge directly from a professional or experienced pianist gives the finest details which online piano lessons fail to provide.

- When learning the online piano lessons on your own at home, there is weak concentration and lots of distractions, which are avoided to the maximum when a teacher is teaching the piano lessons. You can also get to play on good quality piano at the teacher's place.

- All your doubts cannot be cleared promptly if you are taking up the online piano lessons and few of these doubts can hinder you from proceeding further with the next piano sessions. This is avoided in offline piano lessons.

- There will be no one to guide or oversee your online piano lessons which will result in you never having anyone to tell you when you make a mistake. So you will have to proceed with your online piano lessons with the assumption that you didn't make many mistakes.

So if you are a person who is not very keen to be a serious piano player and just want a brief about it whenever you are free, then online piano lessons will suit you. For the rest who can afford a little more money and time, you can choose the offline piano lessons with a music teacher as only this will help you become a complete pianist.

Please help me with a difficult situation (it's long)?
My friend is a singer/songwriter and recently put a new song of hers on youtube. I messaged her over facebook about it. It was a great song, I really enjoyed it. The only problem is that the audio isn't too good. Towards the middle of the song, her piano playing and singing become louder and the recording didn't adjust to the change so well and there is a sort of crackling noise for the rest of the song. It made it kind of hard to hear in places. I told her I loved the song itself, but the recording was off and explained the issue. This was Tuesday morning, and she hasn't gotten back to me at all, even though I've seen her online a number of times. I think I may have hurt her feelings by what I said. How do I rectify this situation? Here is the actual message I sent: Hope you're doing well. Recently listened to the new song you posted. It was great! It's good to see that you're happy and finding time to create and do what you love while being so busy. That guy with you is a very lucky fella. There is one minor thing, you probably are already aware of, but towards the end (from 3:30 onwards) when the music becomes a little louder, it creates a bit of a static-like interference. It's a shame since this is the climax of the piece and the song gets a bit difficult to hear in places. I'm sorry to mention it, it's not something you can directly control (since its the computer's recording mechanism), but I was clearing out my desk last night and found a USB microphone I got to help with some language learning software I was using in high school. It measured my pronunciation to make sure it was as close as possible, so it is built to be more sensitive to changes in sound than a basic usb mic. It isn't studio quality or anything, but it might help, if only a little. I'd be happy to lend it to you for a while. I haven't used it in almost three years and don't foresee needing it for any reason. Again, I'm sorry to bring it up, the song is wonderful, but it's terrible to have your music interrupted by that white noise. I'm afraid to ask her why she's ignoring me, because I think it will bother her and upset her even more with me. I'm also afraid I'm overreacting and she might just be bust and hasn't gotten back to me. I decided to write her an apology, but haven't sent it yet. What do you think of this? Hi [name], I?ve been thinking about the last message I sent you, and I realize it was thoughtless. There was no reason for me to criticize what you created, and I?m sorry if I offended or upset you in any way. You didn?t ask for an opinion, so I should not have provided one. I apologize for it and I?m sorry to bother and bombard you with messages. This is the last, I promise. If you have the time and patience, I would like to take up piano lessons again. Wishing you the best, [name] *we are both female by the way, it would be different if I were a guy...I think.

Do you think i can Major in Music or Music Education?
I really love music and its really amazing! like i love how music and how it can tell a story and really inspire and help people out :) I've played the alto saxophone since 6th grade and i've been trying to teach myself piano, but my momma finally decided to let me start piano lessons which i just started last week. The piano teacher was suprised at how much i taught myself, even though i've been doing a few things wrong :P but i think if i keep practicing what she teaches me, i'll get really good! i loveeee piano :) but anyways lately i've been trying to think about what i wanted to major in, i kinda always wanted to major in music or music education but i wasn't sure but now i don't care and i just wanna do what i love :) i was kinda thinking of majoring in both economics and music just in case music didn't work out for me when looking for a job or something, would that be ok, or is that wayyy too much work? Or should i just keep playing music as a hobby and stick with economics? ...but being a music teacher still sounds pretty fun :) idk too much about economics and i dont know if it's fun, and i just wanna make sure i have a fun job that i'll love! :D im pretty good at math though too and i'm kinda interested in business, but i don't if economics would be very fun or exciting enough for me...so yeahh. Im 16 years old and been teaching myself a little bit of piano and just kinda messin around with it for a few years, but i just started real lessons last week and i'm a little ahead of most beginning piano students since i've been teaching myself. and i've been playing saxophone for 6 years! so what do think? could i major in music? :) or should i just major in economics or something else and keep playing music for fun and as a hobby? i'll be a senior in high school next year. I am kinda interested in majoring in business or economics too though. Do you know what its like being an economics major?

What are some good begineer piano lessons/drills?
I can play a few songs but that's only because I spent a lot of time getting my left hand down. I'm pretty bad at reading bass clef and I am looking to get some drills to make it easier for me to sight read music. I can read treble fairly well as I played violin for some time, but trying to pick up on reading sheet music 5 years after I've stopped is hard, especially since I don't know bass clef that well and most song's left hand parts are multi-note. To give some reference, I've been able to play through Fur Elise, The Entertainer, and some Beatles songs by going through the song, measure by measure note by note, memorizing how my hands should go. Thanks
