Tips for Restoration of your Piano

[play piano] [play piano]

Piano restoration is a tedious task. The mechanics of a piano is very complex and restoring it makes it difficult and time consuming. The process of refinishing the exterior wood, restoring interior, and tuning the keys, all together take hundreds of hours to accomplish. However, the grandeur of a piano is kept and even enhanced through piano restoration.

Some people treat their pianos as treasures. Each unit is uniquely different from the other. The wood materials, plates, strings, pins, soundboards and dampers are made one of a kind for each instrument. A lot of piano owners see pianos as investments, not just financially but also as an emotional investment for its sentimental value that is earned over the years.

This is why the meticulous task of Piano restoration is often times preferable than to buying a new one. The cost that is spent on piano restoration is oftentimes just a fraction of the cost of purchasing a new unit. The benefits of piano restoration include preserving the valuable parts of the piano. For example, the antiquity of the piano’s case may be unavailable in today’s market. Piano restoration provides the option to keep the original case as it is a common knowledge that the quality of materials used in most old pianos are far more superior to that of today

It is, however, important to note that pianos may not be worth restoring if the harp is cracked or the cabinetry is in really bad shape. It is also noteworthy that the most beneficial candidates for piano restorations are those that come from pre war era. These instruments are considered as heirlooms and are best kept instead of replaced.
Restoring the exterior wood to the original look of a pre-war era piano, however, is a very difficult task. It is important to use the perfect matching materials because many lacquers and paints may create imperfections such as unmatched patterns from the original wood.

Restoration of the interior of a piano improves sound quality for pianos that have lost proper tone from years of use and non-use. New strings and hammers are repaired and are replaced. The sound quality must be improved as this is the most valuable result of piano restoration.

Piano restoration also often requires the replacement of hammer shanks and flanges, whippens, damper heads, springs, screws, the damper lift rod, hammer rail cloth, screw punching, and hammer butt springs.

Regulation of the piano ensures the very best tone for your piano. The piano is repeatedly tuned by adding high tension to the point that concert pitch is achieved. This process also includes refining the damper regulation. Note that the new strings always stretch. it should be tuned and re-tuned during this initial phase of stretching because this will help the piano stay in tune longer once the piano restoration process is complete.

Piano restoration is the highest possible quality of craftsmanship. Only few specialize in the industry of piano restoration due to the tedious work involved. Piano restoration not only returns the piano back to its proper condition musically, but will restore the piano beyond expectation.

Trying to find a recent acoustic picking song?
I think the song is quite recent (last few years). It's mostly just acoustic guitar picking, the music and lyrics (sung by a man) are very quiet and soft. if you were to play part of it on a piano, it would go d d d c c c d, a f c, d d d c c a a# the end is actually Bb instead of a# sorry

Is this girl just a tease? Or is there some other word to describe it...?
I met this girl on a social gaming site. We talked for hours, maybe 5 to 10 hours a day for 2 weeks. Sometimes personal, sometimes joking, sometimes about nothing. It sounds normal so far. She mentions she can play piano I ask her to webcam it, she does. She plays a love song. She plays some more songs some of them love songs. Playing just for me remember, just on webcam no one else. We email each other when we missed the other online one day, we chat every day 5 to 10 hours average. More webcam, more love songs. We play games on Skype video chat, charades, we have a 1 hour video chat call. We get to know each other pretty well now about 5 or 6 weeks this has been going on. Then today I pry a little and find out she has a boyfriend, has all this time, didn't think it was a big deal to mention it. So either she is in an "open relationship" aka lamer coupling technique. Or she was teasing me, you the know the other word ****tease. Or are some girls just insane? Or...did I miss something. Um..I'm settling with "tease" at this point. Oh and another thing, I handled myself pretty well when she mentioned the bf saying "I'm happy for you" and that seemed to stun her, like she was anticipating devastating me, as if the past 5 weeks were all the slow orchestral movement leading up to Ode To Joy's chorus. I mean that is why I was asking is it just a tease or is it some new word like "girl-who-likes-to-set-up-men-in-the-hopes-of-devasting-them"....? girl-who-likes-to-set-up-men-in-the-hope that-she-will-devastate-them" I have thought about it a little more and think maybe I am overreacting, for example I HATE when girls think I like them just because I frequent the cafe they might be at coincidentally, or if you just accidentally look towards them and they think you are "checking them out" when you are not, and most girls think in this stupid way, they think every man adores them or has a crush on them. So in a way I am projecting this on to this person. I am thinking "she must have a crush on me" because she played a love song. Okay maybe I was slightly wrong. BUT STILL 10 hours a day for 5 weeks is like 350 hours of chatting, skyping, video conferencing so please don't tell me I over reacted significantly. Thanks for the great answers.
